Food Items – Since 1989
Courtesy of local business donations and Table to Table, bread, pastries, and other perishable food items are available for clients to take home. No application required. Open during office hours, M-F 9AM-3PM.
Soup Kitchen - Since 1993
A hot meal is served Monday-Friday evenings. Serving 50-80 people including those living on the street, families attempting to stretch their income and travelers temporarily stranded in the area.
Monday - Friday - 4:00pm - 6:00pm
Sunday - Grab & Go Bag Lunch Only - 930am - 10:30am
Bedding & Blankets – Since 1997
Blankets and sleeping bags are given to those who sleep on the streets or in their cars, as well as to individuals and families in need during the winter months. No application required.
Clothing and Vouchers – Since 1989
A change of clothes is available to those who find themselves in emergency situations or who are traveling through town. Vouchers are issued to a local thrift store for items not on hand by appointment only.
Transportation – Since 1999
Gasoline vouchers help clients get to medical appointments. The Salvation Army also provides Iowa City bus tickets to individuals. Application required, must have two or more medical appointments within 30 days, limited availability, apply by appointment.
Transportation Greyhound/Trailways – Since 2000
Bus tickets to surrounding areas are available to enable individuals to be with family members in times of crisis. Application Required, limited availablility, apply by appointment.
